All about Tillandsia "Air Plants"

First when you hear about "Air Plants", what pops up in your mind? Some think that they're plants that fly in the air, some think about plants that can breathe, and some simply say, "Plants that need air?" In a way the answers to those questions are all "YES." They fly in the air because they can be hung in a glass globe from the ceiling, they do exchange and purify the air like most plants do, and they certainly need air because their life depends on it, literally!

In nature, "Air Plant" Tillandsias are found in various terrain and geological regions, from rain forest to arid desert environments. Thanks to the fact that they are epiphytes, their roots are only used to attach themselves onto other plants or objects, as they only absorb water and nutrients from the air through their leaves. It is the largest genus in the bromeliad family, accounting for at least 550 of the over 2500 species of bromeliads. They come in numerous types of shapes and sizes, some are green and grassy, some are silvery and rosette-shaped, and some can look like serpens or hairy monsters!

Because of their soiless nature, air plants are becoming popular day by day as outdoor plants AND as houseplants. The fact that you can mount or hang them anywhere and in any way you like make them the perfect way to decorate a garden, accent your room, and especially make them great as gifts and wedding favour ideas.
