
Chris Hwang
Canadian cellist Christopher Hwang expresses his passion for music as a devoted recitalist, chamber musician and collaborator. He has won top prizes at the Canadian Music Competition, Kiwanis Music Festival, National Music Festival, University of Toronto Concerto Competition and the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition.
Mr. Hwang attended many music festivals such as the Banff Music Festival, Morningside Music Bridge, Toronto Summer Music Festival, National Youth Orchestra of Canada and PyeongChang Music Festival. He has worked with many renowned musicians such as Jian Wang, Steven Isserlis, Jonas Starker and many more including working with chamber collaboration with Tokyo String Quartet, Emerson String Quartet, St Lawrence String Quartet and many more.
Mr. Hwang has earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto studying with Shauna Rolston, Master of Music and Artist Diploma at Yale University under the tutelage of Aldo Parisot and a Graduate Diploma at the New England Conservatory studying under Laurence Lesser. Having just recently won the Tecchler and Forster Cello Competition, Mr. Hwang will be playing on a 1795 Forster cello on generous loan from the New England Conservatory.
